Assumptions
- A full year at one salary, with no job change, bonus or unpaid leave part way through.
- Employment income only. Yukon residency for the whole year, and no income from another province.
- Three credits are applied: the basic personal amount, the base CPP contribution, and the EI premium. Credits that depend on your family or personal circumstances are left out.
- The enhanced part of CPP and the whole of CPP2 are deducted from income rather than credited, which is how the Canada Revenue Agency treats them.
- Provincial surtaxes, low income reductions and health premiums are not modelled, so a high salary in a province that charges them will owe more than shown.
- You are an employee on payroll. Self employed earnings work differently and are covered on the contractor page.

Income tax in Yukon
Yukon copies the federal thresholds for its first four rates, so 6.4 percent runs to $58,523, 9 percent to $117,045, 10.9 percent to $181,440, and 12.8 percent from there. A fifth rate of 15 percent begins at $500,000, a cut off the territory sets for itself and does not share with Ottawa.
Because the thresholds line up, a Yukon raise that crosses a federal bracket usually crosses a territorial one on the same dollar, which makes the combined marginal rate move in larger jumps than it does elsewhere. The territorial basic personal amount matches the federal maximum of $16,452 and is credited at 6.4 percent. Yukon residents may also claim the northern residents deduction when they file.
The two personal amounts start at the same figure but do not stay there, because the federal one grinds down to $14,829 between $181,440 and $258,482 while the territorial one is fixed. Earnings between $74,600 and $85,000 carry CPP2 at 4 percent as well, and that comes off income before either ladder is applied. The territorial row in the table shows what is left once those credits have been taken off.
