What Calcadia is

Calcadia is a set of free calculators for loans, salary, tax, and currency, built around the rules that apply in Canada and the United States. Every tool runs in your browser and updates as you type. There are no accounts and nothing to install, and the numbers you enter are never sent to a server.

Who runs it

My name is Paulo. I build and maintain Calcadia on my own. There is no company behind it and no team, so if something here is wrong, it is mine to fix. You can reach me at pharaujo@gmail.com or through the contact page.

Why it exists

I kept running into calculators that gave a number without saying where the rates came from or which year they applied to. That makes the result impossible to check. When a tax bracket moves in January, a page that never states its year quietly becomes wrong, and you have no way to tell.

Calcadia works the other way round. Every calculator names the year of the data it uses, lists the assumptions the maths depends on, and links to the published document each rate came from. If you disagree with an assumption, you can see it and adjust for it yourself.

How the numbers are sourced

Tax tables, contribution limits, and similar figures are typed into dated files in the code, one file per country per year. Each row carries the year it applies to and a link to the source document it was copied from. Those sources are official publishers such as tax authorities and central banks, never a summary written by someone else.

Currency rates are the European Central Bank reference rates, read through the Frankfurter API. They are published once per working day, so a conversion here is a reference rate rather than the price a bank will quote you.

How it stays current

A check runs over the stored source links to catch ones that have moved or gone dead. Rate changes are usually annual, and when a new year takes effect the old file stays in place so past results remain reproducible. The date at the bottom of each page tells you when that page was last reviewed.

If you spot a number that looks off, send me the page and what you expected instead. That is the fastest way to get it corrected.

What Calcadia does not do
